Rewriting Wellness-Where Science Meets Hope
Donna Roe
I’m Donna Roe — an educator, advocate, and survivor with over 20 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist specializing in neurorehabilitation. After a profound neurological collapse left me severely cognitively impaired, I rebuilt my mind and my life using the same principles of brain healing I once taught. Today, I combine lived experience, neuroscience, and movement‑based practices to help others navigate cognitive decline with clarity, dignity, and evidence‑based hope. My work is dedicated to showing people that healing is possible and that it’s never too late to rewrite what’s possible.

What I do
I bring science‑informed movement and brain‑health education to senior living communities. My programs support balance, cognition, confidence, and overall well‑being — all grounded in my lived recovery and 20+ years of neurorehabilitation experience.
Tai Chi for Balance & Brain Health
Adaptive, resident‑friendly movement that improves balance, coordination, and cognitive engagement — safe for all mobility levels.
Brain‑Healthy Movement
Short, uplifting sessions that blend gentle exercise with simple cognitive challenges to keep minds active and spirits lifted.
Lifestyle & Wellness Education
Clear, accessible guidance on sleep, hydration, nutrition basics, and daily habits that support brain and body health.
Calming the Nervous System
Practical tools for reducing overwhelm and improving emotional steadiness through breathwork, grounding, and gentle movement.
Neurorehabilitation Expertise
Over two decades working as an Occupational Therapist specializing in cognitive rehabilitation, executive function retraining, and functional recovery
Deep understanding of how brains break, heal, and adapt — informed by both clinical practice and personal experience
Developed Tai Chi for seniors to retrain body and mind for balance and cognition
- Tai Chi for Balance & Cognition
A slow, intentional movement practice that strengthens postural control, improves gait stability, and supports cognitive processing through coordinated, patterned movement. I use Tai Chi as a therapeutic tool to help people rebuild balance, attention, and confidence in their bodies — especially during or after neurological change

Where Science meets Hope
Rewriting Whats Possible
A movement born from lived experience, documented brain healing, and the belief that no one should face cognitive decline alone.
-
The Rewriting Wellness Collective is the heart of this movement — a place where people living with cognitive change can find clarity, connection, and evidence‑based hope. It grows directly from the story I tell in my manuscript, where I write about becoming “penniless, homeless, and helpless,” and then slowly rebuilding my brain through metabolic interventions, movement, and neuroplasticity principles I was finding by accident.
This collective brings together everything I wish had existed when I was lost in the fog:
a newsletter for people navigating cognitive change
a “share your story” initiative
a resource library grounded in lived experience
caregiver education
advocacy for adults with seizure disorders and cognitive decline
It’s not a support group. It’s not a fanbase. It’s a gathering — a place where stories meet science, where people feel seen, and where healing becomes a shared possibility.
